Judy Tuohy was elected to the Everett City Council Nov. 4, 2014. Position 7 is an at-large position and Councilmember Tuohy represents Everett as a whole.
She is the co-chair of the Safe Community Committee which includes traffic calming measures, bike and pedestrian safety, police recruitment incentives, public safety and infrastructure improvements. She also serves on the Health & Human Services Committee which includes housing affordability and incentives, increasing housing density, tenant protection, rental registry and loan program assistance, and is a member of the ARPA fund allocation for improvement committee. Councilmember Tuohy is the current council Vice President and liaison to the Sno911 Board, PLA Taskforce and Council of Neighborhoods.
Judy was born and raised in Everett. She grew up in the Seahurst and Claremont neighborhoods and currently resides in the Rucker Hill neighborhood. Her father was an electrician and lifelong member of IBEW 191, and her mother was an active leader in Everett, serving our city on various board and volunteer positions. Judy graduated from Everett High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Central Washington University. She has had careers in public and private education, retail management and has been the Executive Director of the Schack Art Center for the past 28 years.
Judy’s vision for Everett: “I envision an inclusive and diverse Everett with a roof over every head; a public transportation network that takes people where they want to go and makes owning a vehicle optional; safe neighborhoods and streets so our residents live without fear; and parks, arts and recreational amenities to bring our residents together and into nature to make the highest quality of life for all who live here. That also includes quality healthcare, and educational and recreational opportunities for everyone. I also see us in 25 years substantially reducing greenhouse gases and reversing the negative impacts of climate change.”
