Brenda Stonecipher is a lifelong resident of Everett. She graduated from Cascade High School before earning a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the University of Washington and a Master of Business Administration from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. In 2004, Brenda was elected to Position 6 of the Council, which is an at-large position. She currently serves her third term as the City Council President and Mayor pro tempore – a position she has held five of the 19 years she has served on the Council. She is also chair of the Budget & Finance Committee, which includes the city budget, revenue (taxation and fees) and debt management. Prior to City Council, she served for two years on the City Planning Commission.Council President Stonecipher’s career in public services has been marked by her support of efforts to diversify the City’s economy, support and expand the parks and library systems and enhance public safety. Brenda believes that the City of Everett's role is to create a livable city to attract employers, residents and visitors alike.Outside City Council, Brenda owns a consulting company that serves non-profit organizations in education and arts. Brenda has been married for 35 years. She and her husband, Tom, live in District 1, where they can be found walking the neighborhood with their dog, Betty. In her free time, Brenda enjoys hiking and skiing and spends as much time in the mountains as possible.
