    EXHIBIT: CHUCK CLOSE: Prints, Process, & Collaboration DATES: May 12 - September 5, 2016 DESCRIPTION: Nearly 90 large-scale prints and working proofs by artist Chuck Close will be on view at the Schack Art Center in Everett, Washington from May 12 to September 5, 2016. The exhibition, titled Chuck Close: Prints, Process, and Collaboration, surveys the artist’s groundbreaking innovations in a broad spectrum of printmaking mediums. HOURS: Schack Art Center’s hours of operation are as follows: Monday through Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 10am-5pm; and Sunday 12-5pm. Special hours will be observed for Memorial Day & Labor Day 12-5pm; and the Schack will be closed July 4th in observance of Independence Day.     Professor McHale will discuss the evolution of American aircraft carriers: from their inception with the USS Langley (CV-1) through the Interwar Years and World War II, and ultimately the establishment of the Fast Carrier Task Force. First seen as something of a novelty, the aircraft carrier evolved into the premier capital ship for the world's navies. The evolution from experimental platform to premier fighting ship was neither an easy nor straight path. An impressive array of questions and problems had to be solved before the aircraft carrier could join the fleet. Despite these obstacles, the United States Navy was one of the leaders in the development of naval aviation.
