What is wrong with using extension cords or multiple power strips "daisy chained" together?
The fire code prohibits using extension cords in place of permanent wiring. It also prohibits interconnecting of power strips. Power strips must be connected directly to a permanent electrical outlet. The primary issue is that a product must be used in accordance with it's listing. Fire's have resulted from the incorrect use of cords and power strips. A good explanation published by the Office of Compliance can be found here:Fast Facts Power Strips
