1. How do I know if I am affected?

Your water bill will tell you. If you have a water meter, your bill indicates the quantity of water you used, and the amount you pay varies each billing period. Homes that already have meters are not affected by this program. If don’t have a water meter, your bill shows a flat rate due, and you pay the same amount each billing.

2. When will I start paying the metered rate?

When the City completes all of the installations in your area, the information on your water bill will change telling you how much water you used and how much you would pay at the metered rate. This will continue for 1 year. Then you will be converted to the metered water rate. In the meantime, you will continue to pay the flat rate for your water unless you request to be converted to the metered rate sooner.

3. Will I pay more with a meter?

Most customers will not see a significant change in their water bill. The average home uses about 6,600 gallons of water per month. Homes that use the average or less may see a slight reduction in their bill, while high water users will see an increase. Many factors affect how much water you use.
