Spring is here, which of course means we’re all enjoying rain, then some sun, then rain, then clouds, then rain, then perhaps a patch of sunshine before more rain. Nevertheless, let’s go outside and enjoy it! May is National Bike Month, and an opportunity to explore our beautiful city on wheels. Get your bike ready to roll at a Mobile Bike Clinic with Sharing Wheels Community Bike Shop, which is providing free bicycle repairs at our Evergreen Branch library. Or swing by our Bike Everywhere Day Celebration Station at Everett Station on May 20 for prize giveaways, safety training, t-shirts and more! Our website has more resources on biking.
May is also when we’ll start to see more of our favorite community events, such as the Everett Farmers Market, which takes place downtown on Sundays from May 8 to Oct. 30. Next week I hope you can celebrate with us as we honor our Everett arts community at The Wendt & Mayor’s Arts Awards, which is free and open to all. There’s also the Fisherman’s Village Music Festival, with an amazing lineup put together by the Everett Music Initiative, as well as the iconic Cruzin’ to Colby car show, which lines the streets of downtown with an incredible collection of classic cars, trucks and motorcycles. It is so good to have our community able to come back together to enjoy each other. Please do stay safe and follow the guidance of our local health department at these events to stay healthy!
Lastly, this week we’re celebrating National Small Business Week. We are fortunate to have so many special and unique businesses in Everett. I had the pleasure of meeting many local owners these past couple weeks and love seeing the great work they are doing here. Small businesses are the heart of our community. Be sure to shop, eat and get services locally to support these small businesses!
