Mayor’s corner

One of the things I love about our Everett community is the compassion we share with each other, along with a desire to help make a difference.

This year has been a struggle for all of us. We are all hurting and need each other more than ever. Yet, every day I see examples of people making that extra effort and going that extra distance to be kind, tolerant and lending a hand to someone who needs it. Though our economy has taken a hit and our businesses are struggling, they are also finding ways to support our community as a whole. Our nonprofit partners, public service organizations and government partners are working tirelessly, with diminished resources, to serve and support those in our community facing challenges.

The holiday season is especially hard on some members of our community, so if ever we needed some extra kindness and compassion, this is the time. It’s also so important to extend some extra kindness to ourselves. We have a list of ways you can give a hand, or find support, during these dark times. We are strong. We are resilient. And coming together as one Everett, we will get through this.

Warmly,
Mayor Cassie

Share feedback on proposed Everett Transit service change

Everett Transit’s March 2021 service change is just around the corner and they want to hear from you! Using feedback gathered earlier this year, they have prepared two options for you to review and vote on. Rethink Housing forum: housing for all

In case you missed it, Everett’s community development team, Mayor Franklin and former Governor Christine Gregoire hosted the first virtual Rethink Housing forum on housing for all. Watch the recording of the forum to learn about current housing needs, why addressing these issues is so vitally important to our community, and the impact COVID-19 has had on housing in our region. The next forum is scheduled for Jan. 14 and will focus on strategies for addressing homelessness. We’re also organizing a series of virtual “chat” meetings for the community to interact with us directly about housing in Everett. Learn more and tune in to future rethink housing forums and chats at everettwa.gov/rethinkhousing.

New interactive map for land use projects

Our planning department launched a new interactive map to make it easier for the public to access information about active land use projects within the city of Everett. The map provides users with updated project information, links to project documents, as well as contact information for the staff person assigned to the project. Community members can learn more and access the map in the City's online map gallery and select active land use projects. To get notified when new projects are added, sign up for the Everett Planning-Public Notices newsflash.

Everett sidewalk with snow and foot prints

Prepare for winter weather

Winter is just a couple weeks away which means it’s time to start planning for winter weather. With temperatures dropping and snow blanketing the mountains, there’s a chance those snowflakes can make their way to Everett. If the snow starts falling, Everett’s public works team would like to remind community members to clear the sidewalks in front of their home or business to help you and your neighbors get around safely in inclement weather. If you see a neighbor that needs help clearing their sidewalk, lend a helping hand! In the event of inclement weather that impacts Everett streets, community members can fill out a service request form, or call the 24-hour dispatch line at 425-257-8821.
