As we head into the weekend, I wanted to take a moment and acknowledge and appreciate our City of Everett teams. Like companies and organizations everywhere, we have been through a lot of difficult changes these past few months.
But rising to the occasion is something our City teams excel at and our team members are working day and night to keep our city safe, working long hours under ever-stressful circumstances. Though we’ve had to reduce or eliminate some services, we’re still delivering core City functions. Our teams are out there responding to shootings, robberies, medical emergencies and fires. Our teams are dealing with encampments, continuing road projects, driving our buses, and responding to hundreds of questions from concerned residents and businesses. We’re changing how we do business, too. We’ve moved as many services and transactions online City services in this strange new reality.
I’ve been hearing from some community members who are frustrated we’re not doing more. People feel we’re either doing too little parking enforcement, or too much; we’re not doing enough to address homelessness; or they’re upset we’re not able to mow the parks as frequently. Please be patient.
In spite of the adverse conditions we find ourselves in, I’ve found positivity and inspiration in the hard work, innovation and dedication I see shining through our public servants. I am grateful for everything they are doing to keep our community safe. And, I am grateful to everything each of YOU are doing.
Thank you. Be well.
