[ARCHIVED] Rollover collision blocks roadway

Everett Patch

EVERETT – A suspected DUI collision closes Evergreen Way for several hours after severing a power pole.

At about 6:15 p.m. this evening, officers were dispatched to the 7200 block of Evergreen Way on the report of a collision that severed a power pole and started a small fire. Arriving officers were informed that a Toyota Corolla was southbound on Evergreen Way when it veered off the road, severed a power pole, rolled over, and trapped the driver inside. Witnesses pulled the driver from the vehicle.

The driver, a 21 year-old Everett male, was not injured but was arrested on suspicion of DUI and transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett for investigative purposes.

Due to safety concerns of the power lines over the roadway, Evergreen Way was immediately closed and expected to remain so until midnight as repairs are made.

While investigating the collision, officers believe that the same vehicle was involved in a hit and run collision at the intersection of SE Everett Mall Way and Evergreen Way at 5:50 p.m. this evening. No injuries were reported in this incident.
