EVERETT – Alert deputy arrests south Everett bank robber.
Just after noon today, an alert Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputy located the vehicle believed to be associated with the Key Bank robbery (1902 110th St SE) on Friday, March 24th. The man inside the car had an outstanding warrant and looked similar to the described bank robber. The man was arrested and Everett’s Major Crimes detectives responded to investigate.
At about 5 p.m. on the 24th, a man entered the Key Bank and handed the teller a note saying, “This is a robbery. Give me all your cash and reserve. I have a gun.” The male was given an undisclosed amount of cash and he left the business. A witness in the parking lot had seen the man park his Lexus, enter the bank then run back to the car at the time of the robbery. While running, a dye pack inside the bag of money exploded and the male dropped the cash as smoke billowed out. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle, but the witness provided responding officers a description and the license plate number.
Detectives worked with the teller and surveillance video to establish probable cause that the man had robbed the bank. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on robbery (RCW 9A.56.200) charges.
No one was injured during the arrest or robbery and the cash was recovered in the parking lot. The incident remains under investigation.
