[ARCHIVED] Public help sought to arrest assault suspect

Suspect

EVERETT – Major Crimes detectives are asking the public to help locate a male suspected of shooting a woman in the back.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit have probable cause to arrest 23 year-old Jose Espinoza Aguilar for shooting a woman on January 11th. He is known to local law enforcement and should be considered armed and dangerous.

In the morning hours of January 11, 2017, officers responded to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett on the report of a 21 year-old Snohomish woman who had been shot in the back and dropped off at the hospital. During the course of the investigation, the victim told detectives she asked for a ride from Jorge Martinez from Marysville to Lynnwood. Instead of taking her home, Jorge pulled into a parking lot near Langus Park (400 Smith Rd). Shortly after parking, Jose Espinoza Aguilar drove up and parked. As he approached, the victim escaped through the driver’s door but was shot by Jose as she ran. The victim reported Jose put her in his car and dropped her off at the hospital where medical staff called 911.

As the investigation continued, a witness identified Jose as the shooter. The witness also reported Jose put a hit on the victim because she stole over $2,000 of heroin from him.

The victim has a single gunshot wound to her back and is currently paralyzed from the waist down. She denied stealing any drugs.

For his involvement in the incident, 26 year-old Jorge Martinez was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail last night on assault charges (RCW 9A.36.011)

Anyone with information about this incident or knows the suspect is asked to call the Everett Police Department TIP LINE at (425) 257-8450 or Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound at 1-800-222-TIPS.
