EVERETT – A suspected bank robber was arrested when witnesses recognized him returning to the crime scene.
Just before 3 pm today, officers responded to Key Bank (1902 110th St SE) on the report of a bank robbery. Arriving officers were told a male entered the business with a scarf around his head and demanded money from a teller. Upon getting an undisclosed amount of cash, the man fled the bank on foot.
Witnesses described a white man wearing dark black clothing throw something into the bushes as he ran from the bank. The man got into a white El Camino and drove eastbound on 110th St SE. Witnesses provided a good description of the man and his vehicle.
As officers investigated the robbery, they recovered cash from the bushes and reviewed surveillance footage of the incident. About 90 minutes later, a witness called 911 to report the El Camino and suspect returned to the bank. Officers contacted the male in his vehicle and took him into custody.
A 34 year-old Marysville man has been booked into the Snohomish County Jail on probable cause for robbery charges.
Detectives impounded the El Camino pending a search warrant to continue the investigation.
No injuries or weapons were reported.
