[ARCHIVED] Chief Templeman issues statement about the Dallas shooting

EVERETT – Chief Dan Templeman has issued the following statement:

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the men and women of the Dallas Police Department, Dallas Rapid Transit Police and the citizens of Dallas in the wake of the horrific tragedy last night. Five officers died and seven were injured while ensuring the rights of citizens to peacefully protest. Those of us in law enforcement today face some of the most significant social issues of the past 30 years. The incidents of this past week underscore the gravity of these challenges and the need to address them directly and constructively. It is a time for unity and those of us who are leaders in law enforcement must collaborate with the community to bridge the issues, not divide us.

The Everett Police Department will continue to nurture strong community relationships and find new and innovative ways to partner with citizens. I am continually grateful for the exceptional, often heroic, work our officers perform to protect our citizens.”
