Fatal pedestrian collision in Everett

The Everett Police Department is currently investigating a fatal collision involving a child that occurred this past weekend.

On Friday evening, March 20, 2015, just before 8:00 p.m., officers responded to a car/pedestrian collision in the 2400 block of Colby Ave. Arriving officers determined that a 5 year-old boy had been struck by a car driving southbound on Colby Ave. Everett Fire immediately transported the child to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. The boy was later transported to Harborview Medical Center.

The involved driver, a 74 year-old Bothell man, remained at the scene.

Everett Police Traffic Unit detectives responded to the incident. Based upon their investigation including witness statements, detectives believe the vehicle was travelling southbound and had stopped for pedestrians at a marked crosswalk. As the vehicle took off, the child exited a parked vehicle and ran across the street. The vehicle was unable to stop and hit the child. There is no indication that alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision and no charges are expected.

On Sunday, the child succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
