[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: Multiagency Team responds to shots fired in Lake Stevens

LAKE STEVENS, Wash. – Detectives continue to investigate the shooting incident. The initial 911 reports of gunshots came in just before 11 p.m. and the shooting incident occurred about 45 minutes later on the roadway at 18th St NE and Main St. At least 10 officers from multiple police agencies were at the scene when the shooting occurred. There were no vehicles involved and a rifle was recovered at the scene. The suspect is in surgery.

The roadway remains closed and there is no timeline on when it will reopen.

No additional information is available. The next update will be provided at 2 p.m. this afternoon.

LAKE STEVENS, Wash. – Just before 11 p.m., officers with the Lake Stevens Police Department responded to 18th St NE and Main St after receiving several reports of gunshots heard in the area. Arriving officers contacted a 22 year-old male with a firearm and instructed him to drop his weapon but the male refused. After additional attempts to negotiate, officers fired at the man.

The man was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported by civilians or police.

The area of 18th St NE and Main St in downtown Lake Stevens is currently closed to traffic for the investigation.

The incident is under investigation by the Snohomish County Multi-Agency Response Team (SMART), a team of detectives from various Snohomish County law enforcement agencies who respond to and investigate police use-of-force incidents in the county.
