EVERETT – The Everett Police Department is investigating a serious injury collision.
Just after 5:00 pm today, officers responded to reports of a two car collision in the 5500 block of Evergreen Way. Arriving officers found two cars had collided head-on in the intersection of Highway Pl and Evergreen Way. All northbound lanes of traffic were blocked. Everett Fire extracted both drivers from their vehicles and immediately transported them to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett - Colby Campus.
Detectives with the Traffic Safety Unit responded to the scene. Based on initial indicators, a northbound vehicle, driven by a juvenile male, was travelling at a high rate of speed when it collided with a southbound vehicle, driven by a 61 year-old Mukilteo woman, turning onto Highway Pl. The force of the collision pushed the turning vehicle over the sidewalk and into a cement retaining wall. Both vehicles have been impounded as evidence and the collision remains under investigation. Criminal charges, if any, won’t be determined until the incident is fully investigated.
The juvenile driver was assessed at Providence then transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. The woman remains at Providence with serious injuries.
Northbound Evergreen was closed for about two hours for the investigation but is now open to traffic.
