1000 Block of Trojan Way Renamed in Honor of Fallen Officer Dan Rocha

EVERETT, WA – This morning, the family of Officer Dan Rocha, Everett Police personnel, elected officials and community members gathered for the unveiling of new street signs honoring him.  The 1000 block of Trojan Way has been renamed and is now Officer Dan Rocha Way. This will be a lasting testament to his life, legacy and dedication to serving the community.

Chief Dan Templeman said, “Renaming a street in Dan’s honor will never truly reflect what Dan meant to his family, friends and our department, but it does represent a meaningful and respectful way to remember his life, legacy and commitment to serving others.”

“Dan was a beloved Everett Police officer who died in the line of duty protecting our community,” said Mayor Cassie Franklin. “Officer Dan Rocha Way will stand as a lasting reminder of the wonderful hero we lost. We greatly miss Dan, and we will never forget his bravery or his sacrifice.”

The loss of Officer Rocha has been incredibly difficult for the Everett Police department and the greater Everett community.  Dan was not only a coworker, but a friend, and his relationship with the community was incredibly strong.  Finding a way to memorialize him and remember his sacrifice and service to the city is an important step in the healing process.

With strong support from Mayor Franklin, Chief Templeman brought this request forward to the Everett Transportation Advisory Committee and then the Everett Historical Commission, receiving unanimous approval from both bodies. Then, an ordinance came before City Council on October 11 and received their unanimous support as well.

“Our hope is that when people travel on Officer Dan Rocha Way, they not only remember what a great person Dan was, but also the sacrifices made by all of our law enforcement officers every day,” said Officer Ora Hamel, the Everett Police Department’s public information officer.
