EVERETT, Wash. – Street resurfacing is scheduled for several locations in Everett beginning Monday, May 15, and continuing through September. Crews will grind down and remove old pavement, install new traffic signal detection devices and repave and restripe roadways.
The work will include repaving portions of Madison Street, from Jefferson Avenue to Sievers Duecy Boulevard, and Broadway, from 41st Street to Hewitt Avenue. It will be necessary to close the intersections of Madison Street/Beverly Lane and Madison/Beverly Blvd., several days each, to accommodate construction. The work on Broadway will occur later this summer and will include closures of the ramps from I-5 to Broadway at 41st Street.
During intersection and ramp closure periods for each phase of the work, detours will be posted. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes whenever possible.
Signs and message boards will be posted advising motorists of detours, street closures and parking restrictions. Flaggers will assist with traffic flow. To lessen traffic impacts, some work will occur as early as 6 a.m. on weekdays with possible night work for striping. Businesses and residences directly impacted by construction may be provided detailed information prior to construction. The work is weather dependent and may be performed in phases.
The overlay project is an annual asset management project to repair and maintain street surfaces for safety and ride-ability and is necessary for the long-term health of the City’s transportation network.
