Lowell Riverfront trail closure planned Sept. 5 - Oct. 14

EVERETT, Wash. – A portion of the Lowell Riverfront Trail, stretching .7 miles, north of the new Lowell Riverfront dog park, will be completely closed to the public for trail maintenance starting Sept. 5. The trail is expected to open by Oct. 14.

The Lowell Riverfront Park trail, along the Snohomish River, connects several communities to the Lowell Riverfront Park, dog park and Rotary Park boat launch. The trail and surrounding amenities have experienced settling and tree root invasion that has made the trail difficult to navigate for some. Everett’s Parks and Facilities department (Parks) is partnering with Public Works to make enhancements to the existing asphalt trail, root prune and level picnic areas. Parks will add root barrier material alongside the trail to prevent future root invasion. The project budget is $250,000.

A map of the trail closure can be viewed on the City’s website. More information on Lowell Riverfront Park and Trail is available at
