[ARCHIVED] Coffee stand fire remains under investigation

EVERETT – Fire investigators today are continuing the investigation into the cause of fire that injured a barista Thursday evening.

"After reviewing security video, we believe a propane tank stored inside the coffee stand contributed to the fire,” said Everett Assistant Fire Marshal Eric Hicks. “We still have yet to interview the victim and we are hoping to do so soon.”

Propane is an odorless gas, but contains an additive that smells like rotten eggs so people can detect it. The Everett Fire Department urges citizens to leave their house immediately and call 911 if they encounter an unusual smell.

No further updates are expected until Monday.
