Everett families and visitors should plan for a closure of the play area at Howarth Park while playground equipment is upgraded. The playground will be closed in early fall as construction begins on Nov. 22 and is expected to reopen in spring, 2022. The play area along with a portion of the parking lot will be inaccessible during construction.

Playground equipment at Everett parks is typically upgraded on a 15-year cycle. Design plans of the new playground reveals climbing opportunities, new slides and swings, stepping and balancing apparatus and interactive spaces to encourage creative play for a wide range of ages and abilities. Surfaces in the main playground will also be changed from woodchip to ADA-compliant rubber tiles.

Upon completion of the playground, the parking lot will be resurfaced and restriped.
