[ARCHIVED] Local police and Target present Heroes & Helpers, a magical event for underprivileged children

EPD Patch - Holiday

Everett, WA - Local law enforcement will spend one-on-one time with local children for an unforgettable holiday shopping experience at the Target store in Everett.

On December 16th, 27 officers from local police agencies will team up with Target for Heroes & Helpers. The event will help over 65 Snohomish County children by providing gifts for the holidays.

“Everyone is stepping up to make this holiday special for children in need in our community,” said event organizer Det. Jamie French. “It will be an unforgettable experience for the children and a memorable night for everyone involved. We couldn’t accomplish this great feat without donations, volunteers, officers, and most importantly, Target.”

Participants will take pictures with Santa, enjoy pizza and cookies, then shop with a local cop. Selected children have been recommended by referrals from area social service providers and range in age from four months to 17 years-old.

Heroes & Helpers, also known as Shop with a Cop in other communities, is sponsored by the Everett Police Officers Association, the Everett Police Department, and Everett Target. Participation and donations for this event are also from the Mill Creek Police Department, Snohomish County Corrections Deputies, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol, civilian employees, and family members of local police officers.
