EVERETT, WA – A suspect has been arrested in the 2004 stabbing death of an Everett man.
At around 2:45 p.m. yesterday afternoon, members of the Snohomish County Violent Offender Task Force arrested a 48 year-old male in Seattle for the 2004 stabbing death of an Everett man. The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on probable cause for murder.
In the early morning hours of October 23, 2004, Everett officers responded to a home in the 7700 block of Hardeson Rd where they found a 48 year-old man with a chest wound. The man, Hoang V. Nguyen, was transported to the hospital but died from the injury. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide.
During the investigation in 2004, officers were told a group of friends went to the residence to help the homeowner with a project. The group had dinner and the friends became intoxicated as the night wore on. At about 1:00 a.m., the suspect and victim were arguing in the kitchen and the homeowner asked them to leave. The two men got into a scuffle and the victim collapsed when they were separated. The suspect denied stabbing the victim.
While reviewing cold cases, a Major Crimes detective contacted and interviewed the homeowners. During the interviews, the detective confirmed specific facts and developed new information. Based on his discovery, the detective developed probable cause to arrest the suspect.
Detectives are unable to locate the victim’s family to notify them of the arrest. If you knew Hoang V. Nguyen and have contact information for his family, please call the Everett Police Department Tip Line at 425-257-8450.
