EVERETT, WA – Major Crimes detectives investigate shooting incident in Everett.

At about 3:30 p.m. yesterday, officers responded to the 11300 block of 19th Ave SE on the report of an assault with a weapon. Arriving officers discovered an adult male had been shot. The male, in his early 30’s, was taken to a local hospital where he later died from the injuries. 

Initial reports indicate the male was walking his dog when he started yelling and became aggressive towards people walking on the sidewalk around Silver Lake. One individual was a grandmother and her young granddaughter. Several men were nearby and attempted to intervene but were pepper sprayed and struck with a metal baton by the male. One of the interveners was armed with a pistol and shot the male twice.

Officers detained the shooter and he willingly interviewed with Major Crimes detectives. Numerous people witnessed the incident and detectives continue their interviews and investigation. 

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the identity of the deceased as well as cause and manner of his death.

Everett Animal Control responded to the scene and took the dog for safekeeping.

Several blocks of southbound 19th Ave SE were closed during the investigation but are open for normal traffic.
