It's hard to believe it's been an entire year since we closed our doors to the public in order to do our part during the public health crisis. COVID-19 has changed the way we operate, interact and communicate; but the one thing that has not changed is that animals still arrive daily in need of life-saving medical care, food and love.
Last March, COVID-19 began spreading in our community. This impacted shelter operations and the homeless pets in our care, who were and still are, unaware of the pandemic. The shelter was forced to adapt which included preparing for more intakes and less adoptions meaning animals would be in our care for longer than usual. We had to quickly find ways to continue to support our community while keeping our doors shut and our staff healthy.
There were no extra funds in the budget to meet these unexpected needs, but with our community's support we were, and still remain, committed to caring for the animals that have no where else to turn.
The pandemic continues to impact our operations and 2020 created a budget shortfall. Your gift today will provide emergency funding to help homeless pets like Callie, pictured, receive the care they need and keep homeless animals safe and healthy as we continue to navigate the pandemic.
