[ARCHIVED] Barn Cats

Barn Cat

We often take in stray cats that have spent a majority of their lives living outside without much human contact, fending for themselves. These cats are often fearful of humans and the shelter environment and our goal is to get them into safe and caring homes that understand their unique needs as quick as possible in order to reduce their stress.

Barn cats are often feral or semi-feral and would do best in a warehouse, shop, barn or other structure that can house warm and dry bedding, clean water and a supply of food. Barn cats will often hide from humans but sometimes appreciate the company of other cats. Often, barn cats can be helpful accomplices in rodent control!

Our barn cats come spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, treated for fleas and microchipped and while the adoption fee is waived, we appreciate a donation to help cover the cost of their care. Often the alternative for these cats is to live completely on their own while reproducing and adding to the overpopulation of feral cats in our community.

If you're interested in a barn cat, or two, you can find more information and submit an application on our website: https://everettwa.gov/161/Adopt-a-Pet.

If you think there are feral cats in your neighborhood that need assistance, please call our shelter or your local animal control agency before attempting to capture them.
