CONSTRUCTION NOTICE
Water Main Replacement “U”
On August 10, work resumes on a water main replacement project along Waverly Avenue from just south of 8th Street to 5th Street 5th Street from Legion Golf Course to Legion Drive (see map).
The work involves the re-chlorination of newly installed waterline, completing connections of the new waterline, transferring water services from old main onto new main, restoration of curb, gutter and sidewalk areas and restoration of street trenched areas.
Transfer of services will begin Thursday, August 13, 2020, and the existing water main will have to be shutoff to make the final connections. During this process, some homes will be temporarily without water. Affected homes will be notified 24 hours prior to any outages.
During work hours, access to the block where the contractor is working will be restricted with traffic control flaggers in place during the day. Expect lane closures and parking restrictions. The contractor will notify affected residents prior to the closures. Emergency vehicles will always have access to homes in the work area. Field staff will be available on site to provide project information.
This portion of the project was suspended in April to reduce the impact to community members staying home due to public health concerns. The contractor, Road Construction Northwest, Inc., demobilized from the construction area after installation of the water pipe was complete. The purpose of this project is to replace an aging cast iron water main that serves your neighborhood. This will reduce the risk of water main breaks.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you. If you have specific questions regarding access, traffic control, or near- term schedule, contact Shane Cavanah, Public Works inspector at 425- 231-3045 during regular work hours.
