[ARCHIVED] Remote video inspections available for essential small scale projects

COVID-19 update from City of Everett

Most private construction activity within the State of Washington has been declared a “non-essential activity” by the Governor’s March 23rd “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” Order and the March 25th “Guidance on construction” clarification.

Emergency repairs and appliance replacements, such as water heaters, furnaces or other repairs necessary to maintain the safety and integrity of the building may be exempt from the Governor’s Orders. For small scale projects that can easily be inspected via live video chat, remote video inspection is an alternative to in-person, on-site inspections.

Prior to requesting a Remote Video Inspection, homeowners and contractors must reference the City’s Remote Video Inspection Instructions for Homeowners & Contractors (PDF) and follow the outlined process. It is the owner/contractor’s responsibility to ensure that their construction activity is compliant with or exempt from the Governor’s Orders prior to requesting an inspection. Please direct questions about whether your project may proceed in a manner compliant with or exempt from the Governor’s Orders to business@mil.wa.gov
