EVERETT, WA – Major Crimes detectives investigate Everett homicide.
At about 2:40 p.m. today, 911 received reports of residents hearing gunfire in the area of Everett Ave and Rucker Ave. Arriving officers did not locate any victims and were diverted to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett on a report of a shooting in the Emergency Room. On their arrival, officers determined no shooting occurred but two men with gunshot injuries had been dropped off.
Of the men dropped off at the Emergency Room, one died and the second sustained what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
Major Crimes detectives are investigating the shooting to determine a timeline of events, what started the shooting, and who was involved. At this time, detectives believe both men were involved in the shooting incident at Everett Ave and Rucker Ave.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will take custody of the deceased male to determine his identity, notify family members and establish cause and manner of death.
Everett Community College and Whittier Elementary School were advised to lockdown for about two hours while officers searched the area.
It is not believed the general community is at risk and those involved knew each other.
