[ARCHIVED] Mayor Franklin’s statement in response to Governor Inslee’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order

Mayor edit

EVERETT, Wash. – Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin issued the following statement in response to Governor Jay Inslee’s announcement of a “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order for Washington state:

“I am very grateful to Governor Inslee for issuing a "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" order for Washington state.

With more and more coronavirus cases being reported every day, affecting more and more of our friends and family, it’s clear that we need to do more to slow the spread of this public health threat.

This proclamation represents exactly the kind of bold action that can make a difference, and is aligned with the recommendations of public health specialists and other states around the country.

I know it will intensify the toll COVID-19 is already having on our businesses, our community and our overall way of life. But like the governor, I believe we will bounce back stronger than ever. I remain convinced that this action is necessary to ensure that when we look back on this time, we can say with certainty that we did everything we could to save lives.”
