EVERETT – Everett families and visitors can expect to see new equipment in place at Everett’s most popular playground this summer. The playground at Forest Park will close Monday, Feb. 10 to begin construction and work is expected to last several months. The playground is expected to reopen by summer, 2020.
With input from community members and Everett’s Parks Commission, the new playground design features plenty of climbing opportunities, accessible ramps, slides and interactive spaces to encourage safe, creative physical play for a wide range of ages and abilities. Playground surfaces will also be changed from woodchip to ADA-compliant surfaces that also require less maintenance by parks staff.
The construction area will be fenced off for the safety of park visitors. All other areas of Forest Park will remain open during construction.
The Forest Park playground project is a capital improvement project. Playground equipment at Everett parks is typically evaluated to be replaced on a 15-year cycle.
