CONSTRUCTION NOTICE
Utility Project
Virginia Avenue, between California Avenue and Everett Avenue, will be closed to through traffic starting January 6 for approximately six weeks to replace an aging sewer main and water main in the road.
There will be limited access to properties along this section of Virginia Avenue, and they may at times be inaccessible from Virginia during construction. Alleyway access will be maintained. Crews will keep as much access to parking lot areas open as possible.
Work on this project will start on California Avenue and work toward Everett Avenue. Normal work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the potential for Saturday work as needed. We apologize for any inconvenience to you.
The sewer main being replaced was installed in 1910; it has exceeded its useful life span and is in need of replacement. A 1942 water main in the same corridor will also be replaced. This is a joint effort to renew both city utilities at once to avoid future unplanned repairs.
