EVERETT, WA – A North Everett convenience store, the Virginia Market, caught fire early Sunday evening. The store, located at 2231 Virginia Avenue, was extensively damaged by the quickly burning fire.

Shortly after 7 p.m., the Everett Fire Department was dispatched to the Virginia Market for a report of a fire at the mini-mart. Firefighters arrived to find the building fully engulfed by flames.

Firefighters received initial information that a male was known to live on the premise. As fire crews worked to extinguish the fire, two searches of the building were conducted with nobody found inside.

There was a total of 24 emergency personnel on the scene. Mutual aid was received by Maryville Fire District and Lake Stevens Fire. Everett Police assisted with traffic control.

A fire watch crew will be stationed overnight to address any hotspots that may flare-up. Due to safety concerns and current conditions, fire investigators will wait until the morning to start their investigation. It is too early to know the cause and origin of the fire.

There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters during this incident.
