Crews began the work of building forms, installing reinforcement and placement of the concrete for the pedestrian decks on the lower eastern side of the bridge amid the changing season and October temperatures. Work continues through November and December on the upper and western pedestrian decks. Guardrail panels are being manufactured, and the electrical and pipeline installations on the bridge continue to progress.

Looking west at the flexible couplings on the outfall pipelines prior to final connections.

Looking east on the lower deck. Wood forms are constructed for the pedestrian deck. Rebar is added above the forms.

Looking west. Welded shear studs line the top level of the steel truss bridge span prior to construction of forms for the concrete pedestrian deck.

View looking west of the forms for the concrete pedestrian deck on the lower pedestrian deck.

View looking west as concrete is pumped into place in the forms and leveled to specific slopes on the lower pedestrian deck.

Looking west. The long boom of the concrete pumper is seen stretching to the limit for the concrete pour of the lower pedestrian deck.

The folding joints of the concrete pumper boom allow the operator to deliver concrete from concrete trucks at the top of Grand Avenue Park to different sections of the east pedestrian deck.

Looking east. A wheelbarrow is used to receive a controlled amount of concrete as workers shovel the concrete in between the curb forms on the outside ramp.

The east end of the bridge structure pivots on two pin bearings. Formwork for the east abutment frames a completed pin bearing.
