[ARCHIVED] Car runs over child in Everett

Everett Police Patch

EVERETT, WA – Detectives with the Traffic Safety Unit are investigating a collision that critically injured a 2 year-old Everett girl.

At about 4:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to a private driveway in the 10700 block of 7th Ave SE on the report of a collision involving a car and child. Arriving officers found a 2 year-old girl who had been run over by a full-sized Toyota Sequoia. The driver, a neighbor in his mid-30’s, remained at the scene.

The girl was immediately taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett in critical condition. It is not currently known what injuries she sustained.

Detectives with the Traffic Safety Unit are investigating the incident. The driver told detectives he was turning a corner on the private driveway and did not see the child. It is not believed that alcohol or drugs were a factor in this incident.

Southbound 7th Ave SE was closed for about 30 minutes while Everett Fire responded to the scene. All lanes are open for normal traffic.

Due to the nature of the collision and age of the child, updates are not expected.
