We have lift off!
Late Sunday evening, Sept.22, the contractor used the four large lifting towers to raise the bridge 36 feet. After the bridge was at full elevation, the contractor moved the transporters, loaded with the crib stack, underneath it. The weight of the bridge was still being held by both the lifting towers and the cribbing on the transporters for the night.

Today the contractor used stands to support the crib stacks as they removed the transporters. Climbing jacks, that have nine inches of adjustment capability, were installed on the transporters. The two sets of transporters will be driven back under the crib stack and then moved sideways to a wider distance from each other. The bridge weight will then be transferred to the transporters and crib stack and secured for movement.

Next steps: The south lifting towers will be removed to begin the process of preparing the road area for moving the bridge up onto the railroad tracks. The first movement of the bridge on the transporters and cribbing will be to the south from the current location.
Final movement and placement of the bridge over the railroad tracks is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 25, but is dependent on several factors including final authorization by the railroad. If the installation date should change, that will be shared.
