It's Still GO-TIME! That’s right! Though this week’s epic storms packed quite a punch, the Grand Avenue Park Bridge is still set to be lifted and moved into place during the last week of September. We want you to be aware of upcoming traffic and safety restrictions so that you can plan accordingly.
City crews worked through the night Tuesday night repairing the damage and restoring the pavement on West Marine View Drive (WMVD) following Monday’s two intense storms. This work would not have been possible without close coordination with the bridge contractor, Interwest Construction. As a result of this tremendously successful effort, the specialty moving subcontractor, Oxbo, has begun mobilizing to the site to prepare for the lifting and moving sequence.
- Beginning this week, West Marine View Drive will be reduced to one, alternating lane of traffic from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Flaggers will be on hand to manage traffic flow.
- In less than a week, the contractor will close WMVD between 13th and 18th Streets, to construct the massive lifting towers. A full closure of WMVD will be in place from Tuesday, Sept. 17, through Thursday, Sept. 26. During the closure, motorists will use detour routes to access north and south port destinations.
- From Friday, Sept. 20, through Wednesday, Sept. 25, the pedestrian waterfront trail and sidewalk will be closed north of Lombardi’s Restaurant. During the closure, access to or from the ADA dock must be arranged with the contractor.
- On Wednesday, Sept. 25, Grand Avenue will be closed, from 16th Street to 17th Street, and a pedestrian exclusion zone will be enforced in and around the work site. Access will be provided for residents in closed block of Grand Avenue.
Placement of the bridge is dependent on several factors including final authorization by the railroad. If the installation date should change, we will notify you. For more information, visit everettwa.gov/GAPB. If you have questions or concerns, contact Public Works 24-hour dispatch at 425-257-8821.
