[ARCHIVED] Interactive art returns to downtown Everett

TypeWriter 2016

EVERETT – Look for a bit of nostalgia coming to downtown Everett this summer. Word on the Street, an interactive art project, will bring nine vintage typewriters to Everett sidewalks starting Wednesday, July 17.

The manual typewriters range from 40 to 70 years old. They will be installed on classic typewriter tables decorated by local artists and placed outside downtown businesses. Community members and visitors are invited to take a minute to type out a response to the question of the day. Answers will be shared on social media.

“This is a fun way to be a part of a local art project, and try your hand at using a manual typewriter,” said Carol Thomas, cultural arts manager.

The typewriters will be on display from July 17 to Aug. 6, before Street Tunes rolls into downtown on Aug. 7. Visit everettwa.gov/wordonthestreet for details and typewriter locations.

Visit everettwa.gov/events for a list of summer events and programs throughout Everett.
