THIS WEEK
Big construction began! Jensen Construction began mobilizing on Mon., July 8, closing two blocks of Rucker between Everett and Hewitt, one block of Hoyt between Wall and Pacific, and a half a block of California west of Rucker. Detours are in place, and the City is working with the contractor to make adjustments to them where needed. Work activities included surveying, erosion control, potholing water line services, tree removal, and sawcutting and jackhammering on Rucker.

UPCOMING
Hoyt
Demolition on Hoyt Ave. will get underway next week with jackhammering to break up the road. The contractor will begin the stormwater work and install temporary electrical lighting for the lighted pedestrian path.
Rucker
On Monday, July 15, alternating lane closures in each direction will occur at the intersection of Rucker and Everett Avenues. A City of Everett police officer will control traffic through the intersection while the contractor potholes for utilities and sawcuts.
Waterline work will begin on Rucker only (there will be no water line work on Hoyt); water pipe replacement is scheduled to take several weeks. There will be water service interruptions of approximately 2-4 hours, with approximately 3 days’ notice given.
REMINDERS
Pedestrian access
The contract provides for an ADA compliant 6-foot protected and lighted pedestrian path, and any pedestrian detours will be signed. Pedestrians are discouraged from traveling in the work zone, but when necessary, the contractor is required to provide escorts during work hours.
Business entrances
Business entrances will always be accessible either via an existing sidewalk or a temporary asphalt sidewalk.
Work hours
Reminder that project work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with possible evening work. Everett’s noise ordinance prohibits work between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. during the week and between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. on weekends unless a variance has been issued.
