Construction was suspended during the winter, and the new turf grass went dormant. As temperatures improved and rain diminished, the contractor was able to remobilize on the site. Over the course of the spring, the City and contractor addressed a variety of tasks to finish the project. Construction of the stormwater system and new golf course improvements is now complete, and the City’s contractor has demobilized from the site. The new stormwater detention ponds are now functional and mostly filled with water.
The new turf grass continues to establish itself, and the golf course is making preparations for opening the course for public use, which is anticipated to be in August. Golf play continues on the rest of the course, including temporary holes provided to retain the character of a full 18-hole course.
Work in the area northwest of the golf course continues for the Alverson Stormwater Separation Project. That work is just beginning and will continue into fall of 2019.
