[ARCHIVED] Homicide at Everett Business/ Suspect Arrested

Everett Patch

EVERETT – Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are investigating a shooting death that occurred at a business in central Everett.

Just after 8:00 a.m. this morning, officers were dispatched to a business in the 1400 block of 80th Street SW where a female employee was shot.  Arriving officers located the female with a gunshot wound and began CPR.  She was later pronounced dead by Everett Fire medics.  No one else was injured at the business.

The male suspect, who was known to the victim, fled in a red 2005 Corvette.  Several hours later the vehicle was spotted by officers in north Everett and stopped.  During the traffic stop, shots were fired by police officers on scene.  The suspect was taken into custody, and no one was seriously injured.

Based on the use of force, the events around the traffic stop will be independently investigated by the Snohomish County Multi-Agency Response Team (SMART).  The SMART PIO, Kristin Banfield, will provide updates on that investigation.  She can be contacted at kbanfield@arlingtonwa.gov.  The homicide will be investigated separately by Everett PD’s Major Crimes Unit.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Everett Police Department TIP LINE at (425) 257-8450 or Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound at 1-800-222-TIPS.
