(UPDATE: May 1, 2019)
Everett, WA – The major maintenance work at Fire Station 2, located at 2201 16th St, is on track to be completed on time after a two-week extension of the original completion date. On Friday, May 3, at noon, Fire Station 2 will be back in service. Firefighters will have all of their equipment and apparatus moved from 2801 Oakes to Fire Station 2 and will be available for calls from this newly updated station.
(UPDATE: April 3, 2019)
Everett, WA – Fire Station 2, located at 2201 16th St, is currently closed for major maintenance. The station was expected to reopen April 15, but due to additional work necessary to complete the project, it will need to remain closed an additional two weeks. Fire Station 2 is now expected to reopen May 3.
The general contractor has been working diligently to complete the work by the original date, but will require two additional weeks to accommodate issues that arose after the project began. The two primary reasons for the extended timetable of the renovation of this 50-year-old building are unforeseen circumstances related to the age of the electrical infrastructure in the building and ADA accessibility requirements for the restroom facility remodel.
“We are aware of the impact this has on our residents,” says Everett Fire Chief Dave DeMarco, “but we are certain the changes that were made to the project will make the building much more livable and safe for our firefighters for the remaining lifespan of the building.”
The crews from Fire Station 2 (Engine 2 and Aid 2) are temporarily relocated to 2801 Oakes Ave and continue serving the same neighborhoods. The emergency phone at the temporarily closed Fire Station 2 will remain in place and the closure signs will be updated with new dates.

(Original Release: February 5, 2019)
EVERETT, WA – Community members should prepare for the temporary closure of Fire Station 2, located at 2201 16th St, beginning March 1, 2019.
During the closure, the fire units housed at Station 2 (Engine 2 and Aid 2) will temporarily relocated to 2801 Oakes Ave and still serve the same neighborhoods. An emergency phone will be available at Station 2 during the closure, and units will respond there as needed. The closure is expected to last until April 15, 2019.
“This temporary closure is necessary to allow us to create a safer environment for our staff,” said Everett Fire Chief Dave DeMarco. “It will also give us the opportunity to update the 50-year-old building and create separate facilities for our female personnel.”
During the closure, contractor crews will complete asbestos abatement work and major building maintenance.
Members of fire command staff will attend Bayside, Delta, Northwest, and Riverside neighborhood meetings in the coming weeks to discuss potential impacts to response times during the closure for residents in those areas.
