EVERETT – After attempting to elude police, a murder suspect is arrested in Edmonds, WA.
At about 4:20 p.m. this afternoon, officers located a murder suspect in a vehicle at 7th Ave SE and SE Everett Mall Way. The vehicle fled as officers attempted to stop it. Believing the suspect had a weapon and concerned for public safety, officers pursued. While fleeing, the vehicle struck multiple parked cars before heading southbound on I-5 at a high rate of speed. In Edmonds, the vehicle exited the freeway and stopped in a parking lot at the intersection of Hwy-99 and 220th St SW. The suspect and driver ran from the car but were quickly located by officers.
The suspect, a 24 year-old man, will be transported to Yakima, WA for his murder warrant. The driver, a 39 year-old man, will be booked into the Snohomish County Jail on eluding and hit and run charges.
No civilian injuries were reported. One Everett officer was transported to a local hospital as a precaution after being involved in a collision.
At this time, the number of damaged vehicles is unknown as traffic officers continue their portion of the investigation.
The involved vehicle, an Acura, was impounded as evidence pending further investigation.
Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted with the pursuit and capture of the suspects.
