[ARCHIVED] Plan for temporary closure of Fire Station 2

Station 2

EVERETT, WA – Community members should prepare for the temporary closure of Fire Station 2, located at 2201 16th St, beginning March 1, 2019.

During the closure, the fire units housed at Station 2 (Engine 2 and Aid 2) will temporarily relocate to 2801 Oakes Ave and still serve the same neighborhoods. An emergency phone will be available at Station 2 during the closure, and units will respond there as needed. The closure is expected to last until April 15, 2019.

“This temporary closure is necessary to allow us to create a safer environment for our staff,” said Everett Fire Chief Dave DeMarco. “It will also give us the opportunity to update the 50-year-old building and create separate facilities for our female personnel.”

During the closure, contractor crews will complete asbestos abatement work and major building maintenance.

Members of fire command staff will attend Bayside, Delta, Northwest, and Riverside neighborhood meetings in the coming weeks to discuss potential impacts to response times during the closure for residents in those areas.
