EVERETT, WA – Everett Fire responded along with multiple agencies to the report of an overturned vehicle in the ditch on Homeacres Rd just after 5 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2. Arriving units found the vehicle upside down in mud and water with a person trapped inside.

Crews entered the water and were able to determine that the person was alive. A Lake Stevens Fire Rescue Swimmer made multiple entries into the vehicle underwater.

After approximately 35 minutes of submersion, the female was rescued from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital. It was determined that she had been trapped in an air pocket allowing her to continue breathing.

Our mutual aid partners consisted of Marysville Fire, Lake Stevens Fire, Snohomish County Fire District 4 and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
