EVERETT – Detectives with the Traffic Safety Unit are investigating a fatal car versus pedestrian collision in Everett.
At about 5:45 p.m. last night, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Colby Ave and Pacific Ave on the report of a collision involving a pedestrian. Arriving officers found a female pedestrian had been struck by a US Postal Service (USPS) vehicle in the intersection. The female was transported from the scene, but died from her injuries. The vehicle and driver remained at the scene as detectives investigated.
Witnesses indicated the female, believed to be in her late 50’s, was northbound and crossing Pacific Ave in the crosswalk when the light changed. As she continued, the USPS vehicle was westbound on Pacific Ave with a green light and did not see the pedestrian.
Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the incident.
The intersection was closed for about two hours during the investigation.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the body to determine cause and manner of death and will provide identity once family has been notified.
