EVERETT, WA – The City of Everett’s newest crosswalk at Alverson Blvd. and West Marine View Drive offers pedestrians and bicyclists a safer and easier way to access the waterfront via the Milltown Trail.
“The growing waterfront district is one of the city’s greatest assets, and the Alverson crossing is an important connection to it from north Everett,” said Ryan Sass, public works director. “This project is a continuation of our efforts to improve this connectivity and safety for our community members.”
The pedestrian crossing opened to the public this week, and features a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB), an alternative to traffic signals that increases pedestrian and bicycle safety.
Coming up
Additional minor improvements will be installed later in 2019, including signs, an asphalt landing on the south side of the intersection and permanent median islands. The crosswalk is part of a larger project also coming later in the year. More information on that project can be found at everettwa.gov/pedimprovements.
