Completed
- Per the terms of the contract, the contractor requested and received approval for suspension of the contract working days for critical path work associated with the steel bridge truss.
- Award of the Phase 2 construction contract. This package is for installation of the pipelines in West Marine View Drive, from the bridge to 14th Street.
- Reviews and approvals of west tower stairs, bridge lighting and mock-up of the guard rail.
- Installation of power to the west tower for the lights, elevator and associated equipment.
- Installation of the roof on the tower.
In Process
- The Phase 2 contract began with meetings, submittals and acquisition of materials. This work will involve lane closures on the west side of West Marine View Drive.
- The majority of the steel truss and transition ramp have been manufactured and assembled for determination of acceptance at the mill in Vancouver, Washington. WSDOT is inspecting this process.
- Installation of the elevator by the elevator company. Including installation of elevator controls, communication and fire detection elements.
- Frontier to provide a crossing of West Marine View Drive for elevator communication. This work will involve lane closures.
- Review of an updated Bridge Erection plan for the approximately 1,000,000 lb (~500 Ton) steel truss structure, including the pipelines. Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad will need to approve this plan before the bridge can be set into place.
Upcoming
- During the last week of January, preparations will be made to begin Phase 2 of the construction. Work near the tower will reduce traffic to a single lane with flaggers. As pipeline installation progresses north to 14th Street, one lane of traffic will be provided in each direction on West Marine View Drive. The pipeline installation contract has 75 working days and is preliminarily scheduled to be completed in early May.
- Assembly of the steel bridge truss, which spans almost 290 feet, nearly the length of a football field!
- Erection of the bridge is anticipated in Spring/Summer 2019. Timing is highly dependent on approval of the erection plan by the railroad and the ability for the railroad to provide a closure window for 5 railroad tracks.
