[ARCHIVED] Man surrenders after domestic assault

EVERETT – An Everett man refused to surrender to police or release a two month-old infant for four hours after a domestic assault.

At about 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2015, officers responded the 2600 block of Rockefeller Ave on the report of a domestic assault. Arriving officers contacted an adult female who had been assaulted in her apartment by a male. After the assault, the female managed to get out but could not take her two month-old infant. The male, who is the infant’s father, remained inside the apartment and refused to surrender or release the infant.

Officers surrounded the location and began communicating with the male. After several hours of negotiating, the male agreed to release the infant. At 10:30 p.m., the infant was released but the male retreated back inside.

After further exchanges, the male surrendered to officers at 11:15 p.m. and was taken into custody without incident.

The female sustained non-life threatening injuries. The infant was transported by Everett Fire to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett as a precautionary measure.

The male will be booked into the Snohomish County Jail on felony assault (DV) charges.
