[ARCHIVED] Construction alert: 35th Street, between Wetmore Avenue & Oakes Avenue

construction

Work is scheduled to begin on a stormwater drainage project along 35th Street, between Wetmore Avenue and Oakes Avenue (see map here). Interwest Construction will do the work. Normal work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The purpose of this project is to install a large drainage pipe along 35th Street. This will increase the capacity of the drainage system and reduce the risk of storm-related flooding.

Next week, the contractor will mobilize for the project and perform preparatory activities including surveying, potholing and sawcutting the roadway. Installation of the new drainage pipe will begin Monday, September 24.

During work hours, the construction area will be closed to traffic. The contractor will post signs advising motorists of traffic revisions and flaggers will be on hand to assist local residents. Residents can expect some overnight road closures.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience to you. The project should take approximately six weeks to complete.
